my intrepid has a bottom end knock. is it rebuildabe and should i have it done at a cost of $3000? I believe its value is worth less. however, everything is great condition and in orginal looking. I have a new vehicle but for the miles that i put on, the warranty will expire if i continue to drive it. so i want to park it depending if i should rebuild the intrepid engine.

does not loose power or anything but the check engine light flashes until its out of passing gear.
It does not have plug wires. I have the coil packs on each plug.which are new. thanx anyways.

I am car shopping and i saw an ad for a 2002 dodge intrepid going for 1900. Sounds like a good deal but the only comments made on it was “runs good but has a lifter noise” What exactly is a lifter noise? Can it be easily fixed? Is it even worth buying?

the rumbling starts when I turn on the heat or the ac. it only stops when i put the ac or heat to the highest setting. when its on the lower settings the rumbling can be heard and the lower the setting the more rumbling. can anyone help. mechanics in brooklyn want $500 to just open the dashboard and find out what the problem is. thank you.~john
Im leaning more towards the ‘mouse nest’ theory since the blower fan seems to be functioning {all 5 fan settings are running, its just rumbling}. hummm i guess i will have to open up the dash and take a look either way since the fan is inside there too. wish me luck.

Oh, and thanks for the stupid advice {dont turn it on}. very original.

A friend of mine replaced my front brakes and rotors about a year and a half ago. Ever since then, I’ve had to press the brake pedal much further down than I remember and even then I get less braking power than I remember. Even when the pedal is near the floor, the braking isn’t what it should be. I’m not a car person, so I lived with it since it wasn’t a big deal. But just yesterday, I’ve noticed a nasty noise coming from what sounds to be the front right tire. It’s almost like that sound when there’s no brake pad left and it’s rubbing on the rotor, but the brakes are only a year and a half old and there’s no loss in braking power. I only notice it at low speeds (5 or 10mph). At higher speeds, the sound goes away. Lastly, the front left brake overheats when I brake alot on mountain roads, but the front right does not. I lose almost all braking power (not good on a twisting mountain road). What in the f*$! is going on with the overheat, the rubbing noise, and brake pressure?
